The Train Cancellations Are Part Of Precautionary Measures Following The Drone Attacks In Border Areas

- HT Correspondent

JAIPUR/BARMER/JAISALMER: Pakistan launched coordinated strikes on military bases in Rajasthan in the first such offensive since the 1971 war. The Indian Army swiftly neutralised all drones involved in the attempted attacks on Wednesday and Thursday nights. In response to the heightened threat, district authorities in Barmer and Jaisalmer have imposed stringent security measures, including early market closures and a 12-hour nighttime blackout to safeguard civilians.

Tensions soared further on Friday after bomb-like objects were found in Jaisalmer, prompting an immediate lockdown of the vicinity by army personnel. Airports in the border districts have been shut as a precaution, and fresh security guidelines have been issued for Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Sri Ganganagar.

The objects were discovered on Friday in the Jogiyon Ki Basti area near a nursery in Kishanghat, and near Raidhan Bheel's Dhani area in Jaisalmer. The suspicious item was first spotted by local resident Arjun Nath, who promptly informed Kishanghat Sarpanch representative Kalyanram. The matter was immediately reported to the police through the control room.

Police and Indian Air Force teams arrived at the scene and sealed off the area. Preliminary assessments suggested that the object could be a live bomb. A bomb disposal squad has been deployed to safely handle the situation.

Sources indicate that the object may have landed during last night's Pakistani drone and missile attack around 10.30pm, further heightening security concerns in the border region.
