Kannada filmmaker-actor Upendra Kumar returned to direction after eight years with UI, which released in December. The film – a dystopian drama taking jibes at casteism, cricket obsession, and cinema – became the highest Kannada grosser of 2024 within 10 days. It released in Kannada as well as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, in what was dubbed a pan-India release.
