Two most consistent WPL teams clash for the title again in a repeat of 2023 final
MUMBAI: In a way, the three-year cycle of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will come a full circle on Saturday at the Cricket Club of India's Brabourne Stadium. It's here that Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC), the two most balanced teams after the first mega auction, clashed in the final of the inaugural 2023 edition. It's here that they will meet again for the 2025 title, as the two most consistent sides not just this season but over the three years.
MI, champions of the first season, will play their second final while DC will turn up for their third, having stumbled at the last hurdle on both previous occasions. DC have been table-toppers every season; MI have been a close second each time (in 2025 like in 2023, they were tied on points and separated by NRR). Simply put, these two outfits have been a cut above the rest in the WPL's nascent days.
