DALIT GROUPS, POLITICAL PARTIES PROTEST RECENT INCIDENTS IN PARBHANI & BEED

Two separate fire incidents were reported in the city during the early hours of Wednesday, leading to panic and property damage.

Dalit and social and political parties condemned the police incidents involving a Dalit youth while in custody in Parbhani, the kidnapping and murder of a Sarpanch in Beed. Matang Ekta Andolan organisation, and the Indian Congress Party of India held agitations in front of the district collector's office. Urmila Wadekar of the organisation demanded an inquiry into the incidents and action against those found guilty. The organisation issued a statement which read, "The youths agitated in the police conducted lathi charge and beat the women. Action will be taken against those involved."

Congress Party unit president Pradeep Deshmukh said, "We are staging protests in front of the collector's office on Thursday for Parbhani and Beed incidents."
