UP Dalit woman found dead; rape suspected

The body of a 22-year-old Dalit woman, who was missing since Thursday, was found unclothed in a desolate canal near her village in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Saturday.

While the woman's family has said that she was murdered, police officials said they are also probing if she was raped before being murdered.

The woman's body bore deep wounds, with her eyes gouged out, her face and skull were severely injured, and her limbs bound with rope, officials said.
