Manipur plans to shut all relief camps by Dec

The Manipur administration is planning to shut down all relief camps by December with the resettlement of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to be carried out in three phases, chief secretary PK Singh said on Friday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 2nd Foundation Day of the Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Singh said that families that have been displaced due to the ethnic strife and are unable to return to their original homes by the deadline will be allotted newly built prefabricated housing units. Singh said coordinated discussions had taken place with the Centre and the ministry of home affairs, resulting in a phased plan for the return and rehabilitation of displaced persons.
