NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have arrested a 38-year-old man who allegedly posed as an official from the Ghaziabad regional transport office (RTO) and duped hundreds of people across the country by claiming that they have pending traffic challans, officers said on Sunday.
Police said Ashish Sharma, the accused, worked as an agent at the Ghaziabad RTO office and managed to gain access to files with details of old vehicle registrations.
According to police, Sharma misused this information and contacted owners with the help of the e-Vahan app to dupe them.
