'I'm proof that star kids don't get all on a platter'

Pranutan Bahl has an acting legacy that most would be envious of. As the granddaughter of Nutan, grandniece of Tanuja, and daughter of Mohnish Bahl, the 32-year-old is more than aware of the privilege her family name affords. As she awaits the release of her Hollywood debut film, however, Pranutan notes that being an 'insider' has its own share of pitfalls.

"Since I was surrounded by actors, it became easier for me to understand that this is a tough industry. I was given plenty of warnings that there are lots of spells with no work. It’s a harder emotional journey to understand that for people who don't have parents in the industry," she says.
