THE MEETING CAME DAYS AFTER ECI ADMITTED TO GLITCHES IN THE APP USED BY ENUMERATORS
‘Al0-member delegation of the ‘TMC, led by national general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee met Kumar for almost two-and-a-half hours. Afterwards, Banerjee alleged that Kumar lost his temper and addressed him inappropriately even as ECI said the TMC should ensure that their ground-level political representatives are not involved in threatening any staff on election duty. “When we started talking, he (CEC) started losing his temper... I told him to lower his finger..J said you are nominated, Iam elected... Fhe has the guts, he should release the footage,” he said.
Banerjee alleged that the poll panel did not clear his apprehensions. Asked if they would accept the final electoral roll after the SIR is completed, he said, “Ifit has discrepancies, why would we accept it? We would fight it legally”.
Banerjee said there was a “conspiracy to malign” West Bengal by raising the “bogey of infiltration. “There is selective targeting, allegations of infiltration, which are Ieaked to malign West Bengal. We asked the CEC to come out witha list of how many Bangladeshis or Rohingyas have been found.”
