UP Board Proposes Uniform Norms

Efforts are afoot to recruit trained graduate teachers (TGT) and lecturers (postgraduate teachers) in the 4,512 government-aided high schools and intermediate colleges of Uttar Pradesh as per the same norms as those used for government-run institutions.

The move aims to end the difference in the qualifications of teachers at government-run and government-aided secondary schools despite both functioning in the same state and being affiliated to the same educational board, said officials of the state secondary education department aware of the development.

Confirming it, UP Board secretary Bhagwati Singh said, "A proposal to recruit TGTs/PGTs on the basis of the norms specified in the manual for the recruitment of teachers in government-run schools has been sent to the state government."
