LUCKNOW: From running citizen-centric initiatives to returning a huge amount of money that people lost to cyber conmen, collecting money through traffic challans and ensuring punishments for criminals, Lucknow police commissionerate has come a long way in the last five years when the police commissioner system came into effect in the state capital.

"On the occasion of its 5th anniversary on Monday, Lucknow police commissionerate is ready to move forward with a new energy and commitment," said Lucknow police commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar.

329 criminals punished, over Rs 100 cr returned to cyber fraud victims in 2024 Under Operation Convention last year, 329 criminals were handed punishment. Under the Gangster Act, 201 criminals were arrested and properties worth over Rs 100 crore were seized. Strict action was taken against 319 accused under the Goonda Control Act.

Taking strict action against 67 accused on whom rewards were declared, 57 were arrested. Similarly, 1407 cases of cybercrime were registered in Lucknow in 2024.

A total of 123 fraudsters involved in cybercrimes were arrested and over Rs 126 crore was returned to the victims. Also, 123 cyber thugs were arrested and sent to judicial custody last year.

Besides, more than 1473 fake social IDs were closed and 612 posts affecting social harmony were removed. Of the total 94 registered murder cases in the district in 2024, a total of 93 were worked out.

Earned crores through traffic challans Taking action against illegal vehicles and traffic rule violators, more than 10 lakh challans were issued and 2,810 vehicles were seized and a total of Rs 6.82 crore was collected from violators.

The Lucknow police commissionerate provided arrangements and security for shooting of 52 films in which 1,068 online permissions also reflect the excellent working style of Lucknow police.
