Panch Kosi Parikrama Marg work hits roadblock

Land acquisition issues have stalled the widening of the Panch Kosi Parikrama Marg—a 15-kilometer pilgrimage route passing through Ayodhya city—for nearly a month, public representatives and officials said, adding that 70% of the work has been completed.

The issue stems from a portion of the Ganga Bhavan and Ramayan Ashram, both associated with the Mani Ram Das Chavni, falling in the expansion route, according to the Ayodhya administration.

Portions of both the buildings will have to be demolished to complete the project, said Ved Prakash Gupta, the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Ayodhya Sadar constituency.

A 300-meter stretch from Ram Ghat crossing to Karsevakpuram, the entry point for Ayodhya, is the most affected part.

Apart from Ganga Bhavan and Ramayan Ashram, a house also remains to be acquired but its owner has approached the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court, delaying the acquisition process.

"The Ayodhya administration is taking up the issue with the persons concerned. We are hopeful that soon the issue will be resolved," said Ayodhya divisional commissioner Gaurav Dayal.
