Oppn repeats review demand as RS takes up G RAM G debate

The Rajya Sabha on Thursday took up the discussion on the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025 (G RAM G Bill, 2025) amid continued Opposition protests.

The government had allotted eight hours for the debate even as Opposition parties objected to its passage in the Lok Sabha without being referred to a standing committee.

“You can sideline Parliament, but it’s very difficult to silence the streets,” RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha warned the centre during the debate. Referring to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, he said, “MNREGA was the closest approximation of Article 41, and today you are killing the spirit of that article, sir.”

He also said, “My first feeling is that I should request the Honorable Minister and the ruling party to please withdraw this bill.”
