●■ I tell them that PM kept his promise of elections and so my heart says that very soon, you will fulfil your third promise as well and J&K will once again get the status of a state OMAR ABDULLAH, J&K chief minister

- Ashiq Hussain

SONAMARG: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday exuded confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon fulfil his promise of restoring the statehood of J&K, as he praised the PM for his efforts to bridge the gap between "dil (heart) and Delhi" as well as holding the assembly elections in the Union territory.

Omar was addressing a gathering after PM Modi inaugurated the 6.5-km Z-Morh tunnel, also known as Sonamarg Tunnel, which connects Gagangir and Sonamarg in Ganderbal district in central Kashmir. The tunnel has been built at a cost of over ₹2,700 crore.

Addressing during the inauguration, Omar said, "People of J&K are very much satisfied that the tunnel was inaugurated at your hands. And it is also my good fortune that I was present as CM in 2012 when the foundation stone of the tunnel was laid. Then some difficulties came, the project couldn't start. However, then due to your and Nitin Gadkari's efforts, this project paced up and today Sonamarg tunnel was started." Omar said.

Where is everyone?

We've been searching for decades, but haven't found so much as a microbe in space yet. Could it be that we're early; that life simply has not evolved yet in the neighbourhood? Are we doing it all wrong? Is there a bustling universe of sentient beings out there, waiting for us to catch on? Humans are now beginning to build technology that could make the difference in our quest for alien life. We have a growing understanding of what to look for. We're getting better at sending probes to nearby planets, which could tell us more about where and how to search. What might we find? Why does it matter? Take a look

MF Husain: Man and myth, art and artist

M F Husain is undoubtedly India's best known and perhaps most highly regarded modern artist. As an editorial in this newspaper put it last week, he is \"arguably the most inventive artist of Indian modernism\". This is why it's not just sad but upsetting that an MF Husain museum will open next month in Doha and not in the country of his birth.
