The Calcutta high court disqualified Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy as a member of the West Bengal legislative assembly on Thursday saying he violated anti-defection law, Bharatiya Janata Party's Suvendu Adhikari, who filed the petition in 2023 as the assembly's leader of the opposition, said.
Roy was elected as a BJP candidate from the Krishnanagar North seat in Nadia district in the March-April 2021 assembly polls. He joined the TMC on June 11, 2021.
