S.I.T. to Investigate 'Conspiracy to Frame' Fadnavis, Shinde Under MVA

The Bandra police in Mumbai on Friday said that a facial recognition test has confirmed that the face of the 30-year-old Bangladeshi man arrested for allegedly stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan matched with the person seen in at least 25 CCTV footage from the actor's building as well as the route taken by the accused to flee after the crime earlier this month.

Khan (54) was stabbed six times by an intruder during a robbery attempt at his 11th floor residence in Satguru Sharan building in Bandra in the early hours of January 16. Three days later, the police arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad Fakir, a Bangladeshi national, from Thane in connection with the attack.

A senior police officer said the facial recognition test report, received on Friday, confirmed that the person seen in at least 25 footages gathered from around 300 CCTVs from various locations matched with the photographs of the accused.

After fleeing Khan's 11th floor apartment at around 2.35am, the accused was captured by a CCTV camera on the sixth floor of the actor's building at 2.37am as he descended the staircase. He was also captured by other CCTV cameras installed in the building, while entering and exiting, the officer said.
