Man confesses to killing 4 of family, surrenders

A 23-year-old man has surrendered to the police in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, confessing to murdering five people, including four family members, officials said on Monday, adding that the reason for the murders was not yet known.

KOCHI: He also attempted to kill his mother who survived the attack.

The man, identified as Afwan from Perumala, is in police custody after he reached the Venjaramoodu police station at around 6.15pm and said he had hacked six people to death across three houses, an officer said on condition of anonymity.

Six people were found lying in pools of blood, the officer said.
