In song, Delhi pays tribute to Pope Francis

As the sun dipped behind the domes of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in central Delhi on Monday evening, the Christ Music Society gently rewrote its Easter celebration in memory of a man who had long been a moral compass to the world.

Hours after the passing of Pope Francis, the choir stood not just to sing, but to grieve — and to honour a legacy that transcended faith and geography.
The interreligious ecumenical (of different Christian denominations) Easter celebration, originally intended as a confluence of communities, took on a more solemn tone following the announcement of the Pope's death earlier that morning.
Organised by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) and the Chavara Cultural Centre, the evening was transformed into a moving tribute to the 88-year-old pontiff.
