Punjab on alert, Mann's R-Day venue changed to Patiala after SFJ threat

An alert has been sounded in Punjab with the state government bolstering security in the border state and changing the venue of chief minister Bhagwant Mann's Republic Day function from Faridkot to Patiala amid a series of threats by banned pro-Khalistan group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).
CHANDIGARH: Police officers, however, attributed the change in plan to "administrative reasons".
The development comes in the wake of threats issued by SFJ's US-based chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. On Thursday, pro-Khalistan slogans, attributed to the SFJ, were also found written on walls near Faridkot Sports Stadium, the venue where Mann was initially scheduled to unfurl the tricolour.
