ON EVE OF S.I.R. DEADLINE, 6.5 MN VOTERS LIKELY TO BE DROPPED FROM BIHAR POLL ROLL

On the eve of the deadline for the special intensive revision (SIR) of poll rolls in Bihar, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday said that around 6.5 million electors in the state will not be included in the draft electoral roll due to reasons ranging from death, duplication to permanent migration.
The commission, in a press note, said that since the SIR process began on June 24, booth level officers (BLOs) and booth level agents (BLAs) have reported 2.2 million deceased electors, 700,000 duplicate registrations, and 3.5 million electors who have permanently migrated or could not be traced.
