Several leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday accused the parents of the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder victim of "echoing the words of BJP and the CPI(M)", a day after they demanded the resignation of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

KOLKATA:

TMC leaders have been attacking the parents since last week, when a Kolkata court sentenced the lone convict in the RG Kar hospital case to life term. Expressing disappointment over the verdict, the parents had attacked the CM, saying: "Such a person (Mamata Banerjee) has no right to continue in office and she must step down."
