India will play Bangladesh on February 20 in their opening Group A game of the ICC Champions Trophy, to be played in Dubai as part of the hybrid model agreed for the tournament.

- HT Correspondent

NEW DELHI:

Hosts and defending champions Pakistan will open the tournament by facing New Zealand in Karachi on February 19, according to the schedule released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday.

The hybrid model for the tournament was agreed after India refused to travel to Pakistan over political tensions between the neighbours.

India, who lost to Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy final at Oval, the last time the tournament was held, will face their neighbours on February 23 in the high-profile Group A game and then play New Zealand on March 2.

Besides staging India's group matches, Dubai will also host one semi-final.

Concerned over the mounting backlog of so-called execution proceedings across the country, the Supreme Court has sought a clear timeline from the Union government for notifying the long-pending Commercial Courts Rules, 2021, while indicating that if the Centre is unwilling to move forward with the framework, high courts should consider independently establishing dedicated “District Execution Cells” to expedite enforcement of decrees.
