The seat of the mayor in Gurugram has been reserved for a backward class category (BC-A) woman who, in a first, will be elected following a voting process to be held early next year, district administration officials said on Friday.
GURUGRAM:
Till now, the councillor who got the maximum votes in the house of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram was appointed as the mayor. The decision was taken through a draw of lots held in Chandigarh on Thursday.
Earlier this month, the Haryana government announced that the schedule for the municipal body elections will be finalised by January 4.
