AAP alleges 'secret deletion' of voters from electoral rolls

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday filed a complaint with all electoral registration officers (EROs) in Delhi over the alleged "secret deletion" of voters' names from electoral rolls which the party claimed is being done by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the coming assembly elections in Delhi.

The complaint, which comes days after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal made similar claims at a press conference, was filed by party leader Pankaj Gupta, who demanded immediate action to halt any further alleged "voter deletions", citing procedural violations and the potential undermining of the recent summary revision exercise.

The BJP slammed the AAP for its "ridiculous" allegations and said they show the AAP's growing fear of imminent defeat.

Officials in the office of the Delhi chief electoral officer (CEO) also dismissed the AAP's claims.
