West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday skipped the inauguration of the three new Kolkata Metro routes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi despite being invited to the event.

Apart from Banerjee, no member from the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) attended the event. Senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh had confirmed on Thursday that Banerjee would not accept the Centre's invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony. “Mamata Banerjee will not attend it,” he had said.
