Hindustan Times Delhi
|September 09, 2025
The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) has granted the necessary clearances for felling, transplanting and pruning trees along the alignment of the long-stalled Barapullah Phase-3, paving the way to complete the project nearly a decade after construction began.
The approval followed a joint survey by the Public Works Department (PWD) and the forest department, which geolocated and recorded the girth and genus of the affected trees.
According to the final count, 155 trees in the central forest division will be affected—10 will be felled or are already dry, 34 transplanted and Ill retained, of which 107 may be lightly pruned. In the south forest division, 178 trees will be affected—75 will be felled or are dry, 53 transplanted and 50 retained, with 13 requiring pruning, officials said.
