Both The Ba *** ds ... and Humans in the Loop open up imaginary worlds, ones that are much like our own. But it is the indie film that leaves one unusually hopeful
Last week, debutant director Aryan Khan's show The Ba *** ds of Bollywood (BoB) landed on Netflix, and the Film Federation of India announced that Homebound (2025), directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, would be India's submission for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars.
To be India's pick for the Oscars means Ghaywan's film is considered good enough to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best from around the world.
Not that streaming platforms are the equivalent of the Oscars, but the arrival of companies such as Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime was supposed to herald a new era in which Indian entertainment would soar unshackled.

Save as...: How women invest
There is certainly a difference. The choices women make when it comes to investments are generally considered too timid, too conservative, too risk-averse. What's interesting, though, is that the aims of women are also the aims of all cautious investors with a lot to lose. The challenges they face - interrupted careers, unsteady income arcs - are shared by millions around the world (think, gig workers, caregivers, entrepreneurs). Could a shift in how the world of finance views such lives benefit us all?
