Shah sounds poll bugle in Bihar rally, urges people to back Modi

Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday sounded the poll bugle for the Bihar assembly elections due later this year, addressing a public rally at Gopalganj — the home district of RJD chief Lalu Prasad — and later holding a key meeting of ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners at chief minister Nitish Kumar's residence.
PATNA:
Addressing the rally in Gopalganj, during his two-day visit to the poll-bound state, Shah urged the people to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by voting the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA back to power and singled out Lalu Prasad and his family for pushing Bihar on the brink. He added that if the NDA returns to power after the assembly polls scheduled for October-November, Bihar's decades-old problem of annual floods will become a thing of the past.
"I request you all to form the NDA government for another five years, and we assure you that we will make Bihar flood-free. We have provided financial assistance for the Western Kosi Canal. Under the leadership of PM Modi, cultural development will be done, and the heritage of Bihar will be respected," he said.
