No proof in Rajanna's honey-trap claims: CID

An investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Karnataka Police into the honey-trap allegations raised by minister KN Rajanna has reportedly found no supporting evidence to substantiate his claims, officials familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

Officials said that the investigative agency has submitted a report on the matter to director general and inspector general of police (DG and IGP) MA Saleem, who will forward it to the state government after review. "A report will be submitted to the state home minister and the home secretary," a senior police officer in the know of the development said on condition of anonymity.

The inquiry was initiated following a formal complaint filed by Rajanna on March 25, days after he informed the assembly that there had been attempts to "honey-trap" him and that at least 48 politicians across parties fell victims to similar schemes, triggering strong protests by legislators from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular).
