- Vishnu Varma

KOCHI: Athira R Menon, daughter of N Ramachandran, the man from Kerala who was killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, said on Thursday that her father was shot dead by a terrorist seconds after being asked to recite the Kalma.

Ramachandran, a former Gulf expatriate who had settled down in Kerala for a semi-retired life over the last few years, was killed by terrorists at the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam while he was on a holiday with his wife, daughter, and two grandchildren. His mortal remains were brought to Kerala on Wednesday night and the last rites are scheduled for Friday.

Menon recalled that she heard gunfire in the far-distance within a few minutes of entering the meadow near Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon.
