MUMBAI: A cheating and forgery case has been registered against two people and an NGO over an alleged ₹77.52-crore fraud in the operations of the United Services Club (US Club), a prestigious defence-run club in Mumbai, police officers aware of the matter said on Wednesday.
The club, established in 1937, is situated in Colaba.
In a complaint lodged at the Cuffe Parade police station, Navy Captain Vishnusaurabh Sharma (53), who is the secretary at the US Club, has accused former deputy finance secretary of the club Bernadette Verma, and chartered accountant (CA) Chandra Prakash Pandey, and the NGO for allegedly being involved in fraudulent activities between January 2005 and October 2024, resulting in losses of ₹77.52 crore to the US Club.
