The Madhya Pradesh high court on Monday gave the state six weeks to dispose of the toxic factory waste from the erstwhile Union Carbide factory, ensuring that all safety guidelines were met, and the public taken into confidence.

BHOPAL/JABALPUR:

The bench, comprising chief justice Suresh Kumar Kait and justice Vivek Jain also ordered the media to refrain from fear-mongering by carrying wrong news on how the toxic waste would be disposed. The order came after the state government informed it that there had been protests in Pithampur, where the waste had been transported to from Bhopal, after some media outlets published wrong news about the possible hazardous effects of the waste disposal process.
