Andhra cabinet to call for fresh tenders for ₹11 crore JJM works

The Andhra Pradesh state cabinet, chaired by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday decided to call for fresh tenders for the execution of 44,195 works worth ₹11,400 crore under the centrally-sponsored Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, which remained pending during the previous YSR Congress party regime.

Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, state information and public relations minister K Parthasarathy said the central government had sanctioned 77,917 projects worth approximately ₹26,824 crore for the state during the previous government.

"Of the sanctioned amount, the state government had utilized only ₹4,000 crore, while 44,195 project works worth ₹11,400 crore remained uninitiated. Now, the state cabinet has approved the cancellation of tenders for these works and decided to call for fresh tenders," the minister said.

He said additionally, 33,717 projects were in various stages of execution, with approvals granted to complete them within a specific timeframe. Special emphasis was placed on three critical water projects in Pulivendula, Dronachalam, and Uddanam, areas facing severe water scarcity.
