The '60s was a transformative decade and we, the people born into it, have had a lot on our plates. We woke up in independent India and witnessed the hippie culture, the Beatles mania, the rise of rock and roll and a society that challenged the community and demanded a voice.

We woke up in independent India and witnessed the hippie culture, the Beatles mania, the rise of rock and roll and a society that challenged the community and demanded a voice. People openly embraced alternative lifestyles, cocked a snook at the establishment and defied societal mores. The news of Apollo 11 landing on the moon and the horrific Vietnam war was shared with the euphoria and excitement of the music band Woodstock's first performance in New York.

The '80s saw us struggling to make sense of the onslaught of computer game systems, shopping arcades, shoulder pads, frizzy perms and of course Madonna. The World Health Organisation announced the eradication of smallpox but added the fear of a new fatal disease, AIDS, in our everyday lives.
