BJP WINS 64 OF 88 MIZORAM DISTRICT COUNCIL SEATS; SHAH HAILS RESULT

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 64 out of 88 seats in the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) elections held in Mizoram on Wednesday, with Union home minister Amit Shah expressing gratitude on Thursday to the citizens for giving BJP a "resounding mandate".

As per officials aware of the matter, Mizoram State Election Commission reported a high voter turnout of 74.19%, with the election process largely remaining peaceful. The polls were held across the 88 village councils within the CADC in Lawngtlai district, with the counting taking place immediately afterwards.
