Historic town centre building plan will 'restore pride'

A LONG-neglected former civic building in the centre of Torquay is set for a major revival as its owners have revealed an ambitious plan to restore it as a mixed-use community and commercial space.

The old town hall, seen by the owners who grew up locally as "an unbelievably beautiful building", is poised to become a blend of holiday accommodation, food outlets and public space - all designed with a nod to its historic past.
The owners said their planning application had just been validated and is now live on the Torbay Council planning portal. They encouraged the community to share views and contribute any historical knowledge or imagery that could assist in the restoration.
