Zelensky thanks President as constructive talks end

Further meetings will take place as early as next week: Ukraine president; discussions were held on outstanding elements of the US-proposed peace framework as well as confidence-building measures: UAE official.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude on Saturday to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and to the United Arab Emirates for facilitating the trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi.

Zelensky said “I am grateful to the United Arab Emirates, and personally to the President of the UAE, for their mediation and their readiness to host further meetings.”

“Ukraine is working for peace and security. Thank you to everyone who is helping,” he added.

A UAE government spokesperson said the talks, which involved top military officers from both sides, had been held in a “constructive and positive atmosphere.”

According to the Emirati spokesperson, the talks were held on “outstanding elements of the US-proposed peace framework as well as confidence-building measures.”

Zelensky said on Saturday that two days of trilateral talks with Russia and the United States in Abu Dhabi concluded with “constructive” discussions on “possible parameters for ending the war.”

“All parties agreed to report to their capitals on each aspect of the negotiations and to coordinate further steps with their leaders,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
