World leaders sign Gaza ceasefire deal

US President Donald Trump hailed a “tremendous day for the Middle East” as he and regional leaders signed a declaration on Monday meant to cement a ceasefire in Gaza, hours after Israel and Hamas exchanged hostages and prisoners.

On behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, participated in the “Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit”, which was co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and President Donald Trump of the United States of America.

The summit was attended by a number of heads of state, prime ministers, delegations, and government representatives, along with officials from several regional and international organisations.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said on Monday that his country would host a conference on the reconstruction of Gaza following a deal for a ceasefire and hostage-prisoner exchange.

“Egypt will work with the United States in coordination with partners in the coming days to lay the foundation for the reconstruction of the (Gaza) Strip, and we intend to host an early recovery, reconstruction and development conference,” he said.
