Putting all rumours to rest, Rahul Mamkoottathil, MLA, suspended from Congress Parliamentary Party following allegations of sexual misconduct from more than three victims, attended the 14th session of the 15th Kerala Assembly, the last before this year’s local body elections, on Monday.
Rahul, a first-time MLA from Palakkad, was allotted a seat separate from the opposition UDF bloc, following a request from Opposition leader VD Satheesan. He was accompanied by the Youth Congress district president. This was his first public appearance since his suspension, during which he had remained largely confined to his home in Pathanamthitta. Rahul quietly took the back-row seat among the Opposition benches. There was no visible reaction from other members.
