Kerala rejects bail to Rs1,000 crore CSR Fund scam

Kerala High Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of KN Anand Kumar, one of the prime suspects in the Rs1,000 crore CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Fund scam or half-price scam. While denying the bail, Justice PV Kunhikrishnan slammed the practice of seeking bail based on sickness.

The High Court observed that medical bail would only be considered if the required treatment is unavailable within the prison facility. The court had sought a medical report and the public prosecutor submitted that medical facilities are available in the jail and necessary follow-up treatment is given to the petitioner. The counsel of Anand Kumar submitted during the hearing that he has cardiac problem and there was a 90 per cent block and he was on medication and treatment.
