Kerala nuns arrested in Chhattisgarh get bail

Leaders of both ruling and opposition fronts, along with a prominent Catholic body on Saturday welcomed the news of the two nuns getting bail.
They were arrested in Chhattisgarh over allegations of human trafficking and forced religious conversion
Minister for General Education V Sivankutty described the development as “heartening,” but said that the political agenda behind the nuns’ arrest was very clear.
In a Facebook post, he also claimed that the incident highlighted the double standards of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as it was turning a blind eye to the atrocities against and persecution of minority communities in states ruled by the saffron party, while acting as their protectors in Kerala for political gains.
