Kerala approaches SC for postponement of SIR

Kerala has petitioned the Supreme Court to postpone the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls until after the local civic elections next month.

The state government claims that holding the SIR alongside local elections would create significant administrative challenges and could impact the electoral process.
While the state reserves the right to contest the SIR of the Election Commission of India (ECI) later, this request explicitly seeks to postpone the revision exercise in Kerala.
The Kerala High Court declined to consider its petition on Friday, emphasising “the importance of judicial discipline,” since similar cases are already under the apex court review.
