Daanish University to shine at global level, claims PM

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the establishment of Danish University in Islamabad will not only become a model in the country but will also carve a niche among the world’s top educational centres on basis of quality education, research and development in applied sciences.
Shahbaz has decided to spend £190 million (Rs 60 billion) repatriated to Pakistan by the British National Crime Agency (NCA) on establishing a world class university in the federal capital.
The premier laid the foundation stone of Daanish University to be established at a cost of £190 milion (Rs60 billion).
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, he expressed gratitude to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and former chief justice Qazi Faez Isa for facilitating the transfer of £190 million to the national treasury.
The funds, which will be used to establish the varsity, were returned to Pakistan by the NCA followed by a subsequent transfer from the Supreme Court to the federal government's account.
The amount relates to the £190m case in which Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14-year and seven-year for their involvement in the Al-Qadir rust scandal regarding “adjustment” of £190 million worth of assets of a property tycoon seized by the NCA during Khan's tenure as the prime minister.
