99% of private sector workers now registered with WPS

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has affirmed that 99 per cent of private sector employees are registered in the Wage Protection System (WPS).
The MoHRE indicated that the mechanism of work of the WPS sends an electronic alert to establishments that fail to pay wages to their employees on the 3rd and IOth days after the due date. On the I7th day after the due date, issuance of new work permits to the establishment is suspended and the establishment owners notified of the reason for the suspension and salary restrictions placed on his establishment, it said.
The establishment owner is also informed of the mechanism for lifting the restrictions on the establishment if he desires so, it added.
