Public outrage erupted after a 24-year-old first-year law student was allegedly gang-raped last Wednesday inside the South Calcutta Law College campus.

The case has triggered protests, political backlash, and renewed calls for campus safety.

According to her complaint filed at Kasba Police Station, the survivor was submitting exam forms when she was cornered by three men — Monojit Mishra, a 31-year-old practising lawyer and former student, and two current students, Zaib Ahmed (19) and Pramit Mukhopadhyay (20). She alleges she was dragged into a guard's room, locked in, and raped by Mishra while the others stood watch.
