From mindset to money habits, Krita Coelho unpacks how abundance is less about having more, and more about being aligned

Live like it's all there

Some people wake up with affirmations. Others wake up with caffeine and quiet rage. But if you've been told to “just think positive” one too many times, let us introduce you to something deeper than wishful thinking: the abundance mindset.

It’s not about being perky. It’s not about pretending everything's fine when you're one email away from a breakdown. And no, it’s not just manifesting money while burning palo santo. An abundance mindset, say experts, is a complete mental shift that rewires how you see the world, your worth, and what you believe is available to you. And here’s the kicker, it has very little to do with money.

More than just a buzzword

“An abundance mindset means believing there is more than enough to go around for everyone, not just in wealth, but in love, support, time, and opportunities,” says Madeeha Afridi, psychotherapist at The LightHouse Arabia. “It’s the belief that we live in an infinite reservoir of resources.”

Compare that to optimism, which is, essentially, a hopeful outlook.

“Optimism says, ‘This will work out for me,” Afridi explains. “But abundance says, ‘Things always work out, and there’s enough for all of us.’” One celebrates possibility. The other celebrates trust, deep and unshakable.

Rahaf Kobeissi, founder of Rays Your Mental Health, takes it a step further: “It’s the difference between living through life and feeling like life is happening to you. Abundance is grounded in inner safety and responsibility, not just good vibes. It’s about expansion over fear.”
