Can a contractor be held liable for not completing villa project?

Six months ago, I signed an agreement with a contractor to build my villa. I paid for about 50 per cent of the work, but the contractor completed only about 30 per cent. Two months ago, the contractor abandoned the project without providing a reason. What legal action can I should take against this contractor? Should I hire a new contractor to complete the construction of the villa?

According to Article 877 of the Civil Transactions Law, the contractor is obligated to perform the work according to the terms of the contract.
