Grimsby boxer Tom misses out on winning title bout
Grimsby Telegraph
|September 22, 2025
“I FELT that the stoppage by the referee (Chris Dean) was a bit premature. I felt I was doing alright in there and felt well enough to continue. But congratulations to Ollie Cooper on the win.”
Grimsby's Tom Ramsden (8-19-2(1)) was speaking following his brave but ultimately unsuccessful Midlands Area Super-Middleweight Title challenge for Cannock's Ollie Cooper (12-0(2)) which ended in a third-round stoppage loss on the Scott Murray's Excelsior Promotions In Association with Jon Pegg’s #TheBattle OfTheMidlands show which took place at Cannock’s Cannock Chase Leisure Centre on Saturday, September 13.
The opening round saw Ramsden make a cautious start with Cooper trying to find his range while having success on the inside. Round two saw Ramsden cause Cooper a few problems but the local hero edges the round with his work-rate.
