Park life 'Exciting' vision for future of popular site

Stratford Park, the 56 acre public park in Stroud, will be transformed into a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable place under Stroud District Council's plans for the site.

Councillors have endorsed the plan which will run until 2029 and outlines a comprehensive strategy focussing on enhancing the park's branding, connectivity, economy, regeneration, community wellbeing, heritage, creativity, and climate resilience.

The site is already home to a museum, a skate park, a leisure centre, bowling green, children's nursery, tennis courts, miniature railway, fishing lake and bandstand.

There is also an open air pool with a Grade II listed diving platform and it hosts numerous events from festivals and the Stroud Show to travelling fairs, bands performing in the Edwardian bandstand and a regular parkrun.

Council chiefs believe that by implementing and exploring the Stratford Park Development Plan's actions, the park can become a destination location where communities can thrive, fostering health and well-being, and cultural enrichment for all.
