Holidaymaker 'nearly burnt alive' after touching lamp in his room

Steve Ellis, 42, says he was on a 10-night holiday at the Coral Sea Imperial Sensatori hotel in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, when he put his hand on the bed-side light and was “thrown to the floor.”

He says that although he only had the electric shock for around 15 seconds, he has been told by doctors that he “nearly burnt alive” because the electric was going to the fillings in his mouth. Steven said: “I've got fillings in my mouth so the electric was going up there - it burnt my mouth.

“If I wasn’t able to get myself off the lamp, then I would have burnt alive. I'm pretty lucky. A child could have touched the lamp and then they wouldn’t have been so lucky.”
